Designed by Studio Boum, the rhode LA Pop-Up on Melrose was conceived as an elevated, luxury-level retail experience that merged architectural storytelling with brand identity. Drawing inspiration from the Lip Shape—a signature product created to add dimension and contour—the design introduced curvilinear forms that echoed movement and fluidity throughout the space. A series of datum lines and morphed lighting elements further evolved the rhode aesthetic, marking the brand’s third global retail experience with a bold yet refined statement.
The material palette and finishes played a pivotal role in heightening the atmosphere. Gleaming paint treatments brought depth and richness, while integrated lighting illuminated reflective surfaces, creating a layered play of shadows and highlights. The infusion of moody burgundy tones balanced the sleek minimalism of the brand, adding warmth and sensuality to the spatial composition.
Equally transformative was the facade of the space. Once a modest shell, it was reimagined as a striking entryway that set the tone for the elevated journey within. Through curved cladding, sculpted forms, and strategic illumination, the exterior projected permanence and sophistication—captivating visitors by day with its shifting reflections and glowing like a beacon by night.
